Book/Study Group - "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle"
April 20th - Gail Brill who started the Adirondack Green Circle, a grass roots environmental group that is striving to implement sustainable practices in the community, and the Transition Initiative will be speaking about sustainability, the book, and starting these two groups. Those people that want to join the reading group should contact Marti at 593-5072.
Copies of the book can be signed out at the Circulation Desk at the Plattsburgh Public Library. It will also be available for purchase at the Borders book store at the Champlain Center Mall.

Wednesday, April 22, 6pm - PBS's "Affluenza" - the high social and environmental costs of over consumption and materialism. And for the kids...*"Wall-E" - the story of a robot named WALL-E who is designed to clean up a waste-covered Earth far in the future *FREE and open to public*There will be popcorn. *Feel free to bring your own "bagged" dinner

• 7 - 9 p.m. Panel discussion on "The Green Fee: What is it and how ithas impacted SUNY Plattsburgh" - Alumni Conference Room, AngellCollege Center, SUNY Plattsburgh.
April 22, Earth Day
• Noon - 1:30 p.m. "Campus Sustainability: The Greening of theCampus"- Cardinal Lounge, Angell College Center, SUNY Plattsburgh.
• 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Chartwells' Earth Day Celebration - AmitiĆ© Plaza,in front of Angell College Center, SUNY Plattsburgh. Opportunities tolearn about sustainability issues and plant seeds. Live music by theartistic duo "At the Stake" and other acoustic artists.
• 4 -5 p.m. "Home/Life Sustainability: Bringing It Home" - CardinalLounge Angell College Center. Discussion about sustainable living withindividuals who have experienced life off the grid, as well as otherswho have made more subtle green lifestyle changes.
Thursday, April 23
• 6 - 9 p.m. Film showing "Battle in Seattle" and discussion oninternational and corporate environmental policy - Room 201, YokumHall, SUNY Plattsburgh.
Friday, April 24
• 6 - 9 p.m. "An Inconvenient Truth": Myths and Facts of GlobalClimate Change, film screening and discussion - Room 202, Yokum Hall,SUNY Plattsburgh. Presented by SUNY Plattsburgh's Environmental ActionCommittee.
Saturday, April 25
• Noon -1:30 p.m. Hike Through Rugar Woods - (This may change depending on weather.) Presented by SUNY Plattsburgh's EnvironmentalAction Committee.

There are two study groups being proposed so far. One is based on Animal, Vegetable & Mineral and the other on The Corporation (Video and Book).

As you move down the road, you can use our model...poster, art, etc. We are all into sharing what we know as we go forward. I know the folks in Canton/Potsdam are excited about you coming on board and the idea of a North Country movement towards transition.

Also, in regards to study guides provided by NW Earth Institute: The Green Circle has done "Choices for Sustainable Living" (which i highly recommend) Menu for the future and we are currently doing "Voluntary Simplicity". They are all great and a wonderful way to get folks involved. We will be doing "Choices" again this Fall with a whole new group. NWEI is a wonderful group of folks
